So, here's my promised review of Masa in Echo Park.  It was amazing.
We shared a large Lots of Cheese pizza which had mozzarella, romano, and buffalo mozzarella. The pizza dough was thick and tasty.  The sauce was great.  The cheese was gooey and not greasy.  It was everything I've wanted other deep dish chicago style pizzas to be.
But, before we had that amazing pizza, we shared a Suppli which is risotto croquettes stuffed with buffalo mozzarella and parmesan cheese deep fried and served on a bed of pomodoro sauce. It was incredible.  I could have made a meal of just that.  It was both crunchy and gooey and the pomodoro sauce was the perfect compliment to the cheesey deep fried ball of goodness.
Not only was the food amazing, the service was great.  They were very friendly and attentive and made the place feel warm and inviting.  I recommend this place to anyone looking for some good pizza and a friendly environment.
