Garlic Jim’s Burbank

A couple nights ago Erin and I ordered Pizza from Garlic Jim’s Famous Gourmet Pizza, which is a newly opened pizza restaurant in Burbank. We aren’t huge fans of most delivery pizza, although we tolerate some restaurants better than others, and we really haven’t found a place that will deliver good pizza to our new house so we thought we’d give Jim’s a try.

After much deliberation we decided to order the Gourmet Hawaiian pizza, which included Canadian bacon, pineapple, coconut and almond slivers. It sounded pretty good, and we’re huge fans of Hawaiian pizza normally so we didn’t think we could go wrong with that choice.

The pizza was delivered pretty quickly and arrived hot, which is not always the case with pizza delivery, so I give them an A for service. Upon first inspection the pizza toppings seemed pretty generous and of good quality. The slices were of decent size as well, which is always nice. All in all, it looked like a good pizza and I was ready for some good pizza. Unfortunately, after a couple bites I decided that the sauce was a little too bland for my taste and the crust was equally bland. It was pretty disappointing. Now, here’s the thing. The pizza wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t good. I’ve had some bad pizza, and I wouldn’t put Jim’s in that category, I just wouldn’t call it good. It was just mediocre, non offensive pizza.

I probably won’t order from Garlic Jim’s again. I’ve decided that I’m just not going to be happy with delivery pizza for now. I would be much happier picking up a pizza from some place that doesn’t do delivery like Numero Uno, or Tony’s Bella Vista. If you have a good local pizza place that delivers and you’d like to recommend them, let me know. I’m might be willing to give them a try.
