My Weekend

What a weekend! In some ways I’m glad I’m back at work this morning.  Although, it sure would have been nice to stay at home in bed all day long.  Here’s a quick recap of the weekends events.
Saturday morning the wife went out to breakfast with some friends in Santa Clarita.  On her way home the Focus broke down in freakin’ hot Sylmar. Yes, you heard that right, the Focus broke down.  The Focus has been a great car, never giving us any problems.  It was due I suppose now that it’s 7 years old and has 80,000+ miles, but it’s still annoying, especially since it’s our only functioning vehicle.  We own three cars and all of them are in varying degrees of disarray and disassembly.
After rescuing Erin from the fiery pits of Sylmar, and waiting an hour for a tow truck, we dropped the car off at the dealership to let them take care of it.  Normally, I would have pulled out my code reader to diagnose the problem and fixed it myself; but, seeing as it’s our only working vehicle, and I need it working again as soon as possible, I sucked it up and am going to let someone else work on it.
With that mess behind us, we enjoyed a nice relaxing dinner at the Americana on Brand in Glendale.  Although it was still pretty hot out, it was tolerable to be out and about after dinner so we took a stroll around the shops.  I really like the Americana.  It’s a beautiful place; my hat is off to Caruso and his team.
Sunday morning, I had a good bible class and discussion with the teens, and then suffered through church with no air-conditioning.  It was a nice service, other than the suffocating heat.  That was kind of the theme of the weekend it seems.
Sunday evening, Erin and I had the young adults group at our house.  We had a nice time together.  We did a little worship, had a time of prayer and a little discussion followed by a long time of visiting.  By that point the temperature had finally dropped, and it was actually comfortable to be outside, so the guys took to the outside to shoot the breeze.
We finished off the evening with a little dinner at Panda Express, and then returned home to pack for Erin’s business trip this week.  She left at 7:30 AM this morning and will be back Saturday evening.
Anyway, that was my weekend. Hope you enjoyed.
