Home Projects

Monday evening didn't turn out to be a total bust.  I was able to accomplish quite a few of my tasks, and was actually quite pleased with the results. There is still so much to do, and we're planning to open up our home to friends and family this Sunday afternoon.  I'm starting to freak out about it because hardly anything has been completed.  I don't know when we're going to have time, and I'm beginning to realize I'm going to have to compromise on some of my plans. I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew.
We're putting in a new pantry in the kitchen and a cabinet above the washer and dryer in the laundry room, both of which I had hoped would be finished by this weekend.  It's not looking good for either of those two projects. Best case scenario is that we have the main box portion of the pantry in place, but I'm not sure that'll happen.
I wanted to till both the back and front yards and have the front yard sodded by this weekend.  At this point neither yard has been tilled, and I'm doubting my ability to get even the front done.  However, on the bright side, after mowing down the weeds in the back yard, I came to decide that it looked ok.  The weeds and patchy grass actually look decent when mowed.  So, I've been watering and hope to mow the yard once more before this weekend.
I mowed down the weeds in the front yard last night, which made the yard look so much better. I am currently trying to decide if I should order sod for delivery on Saturday afternoon.  I worry that I won't have enough time to complete the tilling and soil prep before the sod would arrive, but am still tempted to try. It would definitely make for a long day.
That's pretty much the extent of the major projects I want to complete by this weekend.  It's going to be tough though.  Some of the other things I need to do are finish a little touch up paining in the house, hang pictures, clean, clean, clean, and clean.  There are several other projects I had hoped to finish but these are the ones that are my top priority now.  I wonder what my top priority will be at this point on Saturday morning. Oh how things change.

  1. As somebody who has visited your house a couple of times, I just have to say that you are more ready than you think you are. Nobody but you will care about pantries, landscaping, pictures, etc. Everybody will be impressed as is. Besides, I think you and Erin have made more progress in a couple of months than Brice and I have made in a couple of years! Having said that, I sill wish you good luck and will probably be by to see if I can help tomorrow.
