One of my normal morning reads is Rolling Stone's Rock & Roll Daily. It's how I keep up on the latest in music and entertainment news. Occasionally between the Led Zeppelin reunion roomers and Britney's latest antics I find something quite interesting. This morning I came across a doosey. It was an article covering, punk poser, Avril Lavigne. Throughout the entire article I could not help but laugh at how ridiculous she sounded. I just kept telling myself "she's trying way too hard." Perhaps the most laughable part was when she spoke about her decision to cover the Joan Jett hit "Bad Reputation". She says, of her planned performance, “While I’m singing the track, there will be a montage of videos of me with a cigarette, flipping the bird.” Now, does that sound like someone who's genuinely stickin' it to the establishment, or does it sound like some pop-princess who wants you to think she's some tough, punk, bad a**? I'll let you be the judge, but I think she's trying way too hard.
