New

I love shiny, new, perfect, unmarred, pretty things.  The problem with such things is that inevitably they become dull, old, imperfect, marred, and ugly unless you keep them under glass, strapped down to an unreachably high shelf in the farthest unused corner of your home.  Things are made to be used and enjoyed, and during such use they begin to show ware and eventually need replacing.  I hate that.  I hate the first scratch on a new car, or a new pair of glasses.  It really bothers me when a CD begins to skip or the breaks on my wife’s car begin to grind horribly.  I want things to be new and stay new, is that too much to ask? The answer is yes, but please don’t rub it in.
