Generation Complication

While generation names, and stereotypes, mean very little, I have always been plagued by one problem in regard to generational studies. I am a man with no generation. I was born in 1980 and have been told that I am from both "Generation X", and the "Millennial" generation. Not that it really matters, but I am afraid this is going to be an issue I will be faced with for my entire life.  Just a few minutes ago I was reading the "Chronicle of Philanthropy" and within one issue I read that "Generation X" consisted of individuals born from 1969-1981, and the "Millennial" generation consisted of individuals born from 1979-2001.  So what is it?  What generation am I a part of?  Will I ever know definitively?  I doubt it.

  1. Generation “Y” Why am I here? Why is this happening? Or why can’t I belong to just one generational group? If you have to choose, go with Gen “X” the music is better….
