Time for a random rant…
Has anyone ever been saved by a license plate frame? What good does it do to have some clever Christian slogan on the rear of your car? Will it convince someone that they need to make Jesus the Lord of their life? I doubt it. I don’t think any slogan, no matter how clever it is could ever bring someone to salvation. In fact, I am willing to bet that such slogans would more likely put someone off, causing them to harbor feelings of ill will to the driver of that car, than they would spark any interest in Christ. Anytime you “accidentally” cut someone off, or do anything remotely dumb in your car it will reflect poorly on God because people expect Christians to be perfect, which isn’t fair, but it’s still the truth.
Additionally, is it really intelligent to have a Darwinian footed fish with an “X” through it, or one of those stickers that depict the same footed fish dead on its back stuck to the back of your car? Regardless of where you stand on the theory of evolution you’re insulting people by having that on your car, which, at best, probably isn’t the most effective conversion method.
Am I saying that one should hide that they’re a Christian when driving? Not necessarily. I just think we need to be careful with the message we are putting out there. Don’t be insulting, or expect a clever statement to win any converts for Christ. Let your actions be your message. I think that will go a lot further.
