25 minute drive

Because today is a holiday it only took me 25 minutes to get to work as 0pposed to the normal 60 minutes. I can’t tell you how wonderful it would feel to only have a 25 minute drive every day. However, being early has its own problems, especially when you expect your trip to take much longer.

For starters, when I got here this morning I left my key card down in the car, which I normally do, because you don’t need it to get into the building if you arrive around the 8 o-clock hour. Since I left it in my car I tried numerous other ways to get to my floor. I tried the freight elevator, and a couple different stair wells. Each time I was met with a locked door, or an elevator that wouldn’t let me off on my floor without my key card to grant me access. It was a little frustrating but I took it in stride. Finally I gave up and decided to head down to my car to get the previously mentioned card, and that elevator wouldn’t let me down to my car without the card. I think there must have been some trouble with the system or something because that seems like a fire hazard, or something but this was ridiculous. To remedy the situation I finally had to go to the front desk to ask for access to the parking garage so I could get my key. After I had that, all was right with the world again.

Now, here I am sitting at my desk before 8am wondering if the rest of my day is going to resemble the events of this morning. I sure hope not. Maybe I’ll try to sneak out a little early. We’ll see what happens.
