New York Day Four

December 31st, 2007 § 1 Comment

Our fourth and final day wasn’t any less ambitious than the three previous days. We started out early by packing up our belongings and leaving them with the bellboy at our hotel. We then headed to the Empire State Building where we were treated to a beautiful view of the city. From there we raced over to the Museum of Modern Art where we were privileged to view some amazing works. And after grabbing a quick bite to eat at McDonald’s in Times Square we picked up our luggage, raced through the subway and caught our buss to the airport.

Erin and I from the top of the world… ok, it was just the Empire State Building, but that’s close enough.

We saw some amazing art at the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). Isn’t this wheel by Martin Puryear amazingly huge?

I was also amazed at the shear size of the Water Lillies by Monet

One of Andy Worhol’s most famous works

A little (huge) Jackson Pollock

Starry Night by van Gogh

Matisse’s study for Dance. This was also a giant painting. I’m always amazed by the size of the paintings I’ve grown to love through my art classes.

We bid farewell to our New York home, Hotel Mela, and…

…to Grand Central Station as we boarded our buss for LaGuardia Airport.

New York Day Three

We had a busy day on our third day in NY. We started out by heading to the Today Show and Rockefeller Plaza, and then headed down to Battery Park to catch our ferry to the Statue of Liberty. After that we visited Ground Zero, and walked through Central Park before heading out to see Curtains. We caped our night off with a lovely italian dinner and headed back to our humble abode. Boy were my feet killing me!

New York Day Two

On our second day in the big city we paid a visit to the Natural History Museum, walked through Central Park, walked by a closed UN, ate a wonderful dinner at Rosa Mexicano with some friends, and walked through Macy’s. It was quite a day. Here are just a few pictures from our adventures.

Erin and I at our hotel. Sorry it’s a little blurry. It’s hard to get people to stop to take your picture in NY, especially when you’re afraid they might run off with your camera

Live from New York

December 27th, 2007 § 2 Comments

Live from New York it’s… Erin and Brian! The wife and I decided to take a little post Christmas vacation to New York. We left LAX at 1 AM the morning of the 26th. Over the next few days we’ll be seeing the sights and taking in New York City, NY. Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

This is the first view of New York we saw as we drove down the New Jersey Turnpike to get to the city from Newark Airport.

I don’t remember where this was, but oh well.

The Statue of Liberty as seen from a little boat tour we took. It really was a nice way to relax after a long day of traveling.

Erin and I in Times Square. Our hotel was just down the street so we passed through here several times during the day.

Space Vacation

August 30th, 2006 § Leave a Comment

Would you like to spend your next vacation in an inflatable space station? I’m not sure I’m ready to take that leap but this guy is banking on the fact that some of us may be.

Where Am I?
