Extending an Olive Branch… I mean Bible

Today I happened upon an interesting article in the Christian Chronicle regarding leaders in the Churches of Christ and the Christian Churches exchanging personal Bibles to demonstrate their new found “love and acceptance” of one another.
As touching as it probably was, I can’t help but laugh a little. It just boggles my mind that so many are stuck on this issue, and I come from a Church of Christ background. There are so many more pressing issues in the world that we should be worrying about. Why are we spending so much energy on this?
Amen! We are so inwardly focused in our churches that most of them are slowly dying and we don’t even notice it! And stories like this get the whole Church of Christ world excited for some reason, yet it doesn’t help us grow one bit.
